Happy Birthday to Me

Yep, turned 43 yesterday. A thought kept creeping in this week...I got cancer for my birthday. Not the kind of gift I was expecting. But as the nurse who drew my blood this morning said, "There's only one thing worse than finding out you have cancer...not finding out." So perhaps its a life-giving gift after all. We took our first adventure since my surgery and drove up to Park City. After some shopping and lunch, we went to see The Martian. Though I didn't really love the movie, the scene where Mark Watney is caught by his crew in space resonated down deep - left my heart yearning to be "caught" at the end of this experience. I can't exactly say why, but I love the feeling of being in the car with all my boys driving a long ways from home to have an adventure together, even if it is just lunch and a movie. Listening to a beloved fellow BodyTalk practitioner speak about love at her mission farewell the next morning and being sung to by all the kids in primary were pretty great gifts too.
I think my favorite gift, though, was the look on Cole's face when Steve suggested that the whole family shave their heads when I lose my hair :)
